House Church Foundations
Our house church came together on Sunday. We’ve been feeling the need to lay down a solid foundation for where we’re going and what we’re doing. Foundations are important. The Lord says, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3). Amos says to his readers, “Shall two walk together except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3). So, I tried to cast a vision for where we’re going. We also had some great discussion about the need for evangelism and how we’re going after it.
Anyways, I thought I would make the outline for the vision I tried casting available for those who wanted it. You can read it here.
Because She’s My Valentine
I just have to say that there is no one on earth like my wife.
Every day, I learn something new about her, something that provokes me to love, to listen, and to learn. We’ve had our first child together, but she still gets more beautiful every day. Our love grows every day and survives through every disagreement and fight that we have. She’s patient with me, endures my quirks, and loves me in spite of everything that I am. She’s wonderful and lovely in the sight of the Lord. No one pushes me or makes me laugh like she does. After Jesus, she’s the true love of my life.
To quote a bible verse I can’t find, “Many daughters have done well, you excell them all…”
I love you Christy
Happy Valentines Day
Realizing Prophecy
I’ve been a firm believer in the gift of prophecy for nearly as many years as I’ve been saved. I’ve rejoiced in the operation of the gift, I’ve celebrated flowing in the prophetic myself, and I’ve sought to take that gift to a deeper level. But at some level seeing prophetic words fulfilled has been a bit of a mystery, especially in my life. Paul is clear in his letters to Timothy that there is a need to wage war based on the prophecies given over your life (1 Timothy 1:18), and part of that warfare is to believe those things spoken over you that are true and to pray and act on those prophecies in their appropriate time.
What got me thinking about all this was I saw a friend yesterday that I’ve known for several years. The very first time I met this friend, he took time to prophesy over me about my calling to lead small groups of believers and disciple them. He knew nothing about my desire to plant house churches at the time but the word was from the Lord and it’s coming true here in recent days. And it got me thinking about different prophecies that the Lord has been kind to release all about the hour I’m living in now. The very first prophetic word I’d ever received was about starting churches and many of them since have had similar themes.
Now, I’m in no way considering myself having attained the fullness of these words. There are more churches to plant. There are better churches to plant. I’m still called to bring apostolic christianity to the earth to a greater degree. But today, I’m sitting, enjoying the fact that the Lord honors and upholds His word. He does not lie. If there is a serious prophetic word over your life, war for it. Do not give up. He is faithful who called you and He will complete a good work in you.
