Apostolic Sending Party and Jesus’ End Time Revival Strategy
So we spent last night celebrating the departure of some dear friends of ours. Amanda, Amarachi, Dawn, and Nicole are all moving to Kansas City to become part of the International House of Prayer and the Forerunner School of Ministry. We felt from the Lord that we were supposed to gather people to celebrate this move with them and then pray and “sow” them into the prayer movement. My friend Bryan kept calling it an apostolic sending party. At first I was a little weirded out using the term “apostolic,” but it just means “sent one.” That’s what we did: send some sent ones. Apostolic Sending Party…sounds good to me. We’re going to miss them all a lot. I’m really proud of them though for making a decision to pursue Jesus in an intentional lifestyle of prayer and fasting and following through with it. Jesus was really cool to us and allowed us to give them a washer and dryer to take with them for their apartment.
After we all parted ways from the party, Christy and I stopped at the Midwest Prayer Center to hear my good friend Sean preach on Jesus’ End-Time revival strategy of prayer, fasting, and solemn assemblies. It was great. Sean has more revelation about Isaiah 62 and how it relates to the end of the age than anyone I know personally. If you ever get a chance to sit down and ask him about it, you should. After the meeting, Bryan, Sean, and Christy and I went out for coffee. We had a great time and it seemed like the hand of the Lord, just because the last time the four of us were together was when they came with us on a ministry trip to Kansas City. The Lord is up to something…
On Being Me, and Where I See Me in Movies
Hey Everyone
So welcome to my new blog site. Those of you who have been reading “Jesus, The Church, and the Coming Kingdom” may be wondering why I have another blog. There’s been a few things going on lately that have convinced me about the need to be me. I’ve been reading blogs by Marc van der Woude and Patricia King and I’ve found myself incredibly jealous in the process. These two, at least more than anyone else I’ve seen lately, have began to journal about a journey in God without loosing their personality.
The straw that broke the camel’s back was wathcing “Akeelah and the Bee” with my wife on date night. I have heard Nelson Mandella’s famous speach before, but it hit me again when I saw “Akeelah” last night. When we enjoy who we were created to be, because and only because God made us to enjoy Him and to enjoy being us, that makes us powerful. When we live in the pleasure that the Father has for us as His children, that takes away everyone else’s ability to define us. No one else can take away my joy. And in that same place, we free others to be everything God created them to be. And that is powerful.
It got me thinking about another movie I saw lately. This one wasn’t as widely enjoyed and it didn’t break the box office, but I saw myself in it. As silly as it sounds, the movie is “Over the Hedge.” Where was I in the movie? I was Verne, the ever-careful, always planning, nervous father of this scruffy little band of outcasts. He’s the turtle in the picture. Yeah, I’m Verne. And even as I write this I’m just enjoying that fact a little bit. If you want some insight into the character of Travis, catch the flick.
So, anyways, this journal will be about the journey that is Travis. There won’t be a lot of deep posts about the end of the age, but their might be some stories about what it looks like as I prepare for it. Some will be funny, others heartbreaking, some spiritual, some day to day, but all of them true and authentically Travis. I hope you enjoy–and I hope it encourages you to enjoy the journey of fully enjoying God.
Love y’all
Travis
