2010’s Creme of the Crop
A top ten blog post at the end of the year is almost blogging protocol anymore. But I think posts like this serve as a good jumping on point for new readers. They also show us where the conversation and thoughts of those who have visited have been.
My thought on the top ten is that this list represents where this blog has shared valuable information and stories with others. Feel free to check out these blogs that others thought were the best this year:
Mark Driscoll Kicks Terry Virgo’s Butt (A synthesis of Mark Driscoll’s time encouraging New Frontiers in 2008 from both Mark and Terry’s perspective.)
Inspired by the Jesus Manifesto, Napoleon on Jesus (In the midst of reading the Jesus Manifesto, I was reminded of this quote by Napoleon. It’s worth your time.)
Red Moon Rising Quote #2 (Written in 2006, this is a quote from the book Red Moon Rising. I think one of the elements people are drawn to in the 24/7 prayer movement is the deep passion that fuels this prayer movement. Check the quote out for evidence.)
Thirty Days To Greater Fruitfulness: Introduction (The Lord challenged me to spend thirty days waiting on Him in silence, obeying His voice if and when I heard it, and blogging about the results.)
Antioch 2009, All Things Starfish, and Haven in the Hood (This blog is a synthesis of different bloggers’ thoughts on the Antioch Gathering in ‘09. A number of major players in the house church world gathered and the official version of the Starfish Manifesto was released.)
Stuff I’m Reading (This is just some thoughts on what I’ve read over the years.)
Red Moon Rising Quote #1 (See thoughts on Red Moon Rising Quote #2.)
Why You Come to Pursuing Glory (This was my attempt to create an on-ramp for new readers based on this blog’s most read articles. If you’re new, check it out.)
Food For Thought: Thirty Days To Greater Fruitfulness (One of my Food For Thought posts, this post came out during the first week of September. It captures a number of relevant blog posts and has a link to a summary page of my first week during my Thirty Days to Greater Fruitfulness Challenge.)
My Daugther: The Newest Fiery Believer I Know (This blog is a reflection of events that transpired after my daughter accepted Christ. This may be one of my favorites this year.)

The Wayback Machine: August
Just because a post isn’t on the front page doesn’t mean it’s not important. The “Wayback Machine” posts occur at the end of every month and reference the best posts of that month in years past. My hope is to provide a good jumping on point for readers who have never been to Pursuing Glory.
2009
Joel’s Birthday and the Outpouring of the Spirit
My son’s birth was a prophetic sign to us about the outpouring of the Spirit at the end of the age. On my son’s one-year birthday I reflect on the significance of this promise in Scripture.
Stuff I’m Reading….Err…Listening To
I love to review books that I’ve read in order to point people to good material. This is my review of Francis Chan’s groundbreaking book, Crazy Love.
2008
Appropriately, this is the blog announcement of the birth of Joel. No prophetic significance mentioned here, just some insight into my thinking at the time of his birth.
2006
This post describes an encounter I had at the Midwest Prayer Center shortly before we began our house church. A number of things happened during this month that were signs the Lord was leading us to start a house church. This was foremost among them.
A Random Meeting with a House Church Planter and Another of My 50,000 Coaches
This post describes a sit-down I had with a house church planter in our area shortly before we started our house church. What I love about this post, though, is the fleshing out of the 50,000 Coaches philosophy. If you want to understand 50,000 coaches or you want to hear about some initial encouragement I received about viral house churches, check out this post.
This is probably the most convicting post of my own that I’ve read in some time. It deals with the need to make God’s rest our priority, especially in the lives of leaders.
Food for Thought: New Logo Edition
Every week here at Pursuing Glory I try to bring together the best posts I’ve found that will equip the end-times church to operate in her God-ordained destiny. These are the best blogs, articles, books and other resources related to our purpose here at this site. Feel free to visit, comment, and make use of the resources found at each site.
So call me crazy, but I’m really excited this week to include a new piece of artwork here on the blog that I think better compliments the “Food for Thought” feel. The previous graphic with some guy advertising grilled brain was fun, but maybe it wasn’t quite the “brain food” graphic that I was looking for. Let me know what you think of the new picture. Now, with no further ado, your links for the week:
Greek and Hebrew Evangelism Probably the biggest thing that holds back many in the church from missional lifestyles is the fear and confusion surrounding sharing their faith. This article by Ross contrasts a confrontational, idea-based form of evangelism (Greek) with a conversational, listening-from-the-heart style of evangelism (Hebrew). Ross’ message is that evangelism can be as easy as pointing out to those we know and love the places in their life where God is already working. I think this style has a lot of merit and it would be interesting to know how this has worked out practically in the lives of others. You can catch other great articles from Ross over at thejesusvirus.
Felix: Before and After This post by Keith Giles looks at the writings of a first century pagan and his view of the church before and after his conversion. While his words before his conversion sound harsh and his thoughts after his conversion sound more complimentary, the interesting thing about both accounts is that they each describe how the people of God should live and operate together. Get this at-once-unbeliever, now believer’s take on the the first century Jesus movement. Keith is a profound and challenging blogger that you can read more from at Subversive1.
Missional House Churches in America Part 1 Probably the biggest news of the week on the house church front is that the house church movement is big news! Several articles came out in major newspapers talking about the move of many Americans into house churches. J.D. Payne, a researcher and mission-minded theologian who has written and researched the house church movement, looks at the missional impact of this flourishing house church movement. J.D.’s research is deep and thorough. His case studies highlight the true potential of God’s people living out Christianity together. He blogs regularly at Missiologically Thinking.
TV Series on “The Kingdom” This is more of an announcement than an article you can read, but it’s exciting none-the-less. Those of you who have read Houses That Change The World or the Starfish Manifesto know that Wolf has a serious heart for the Kingdom. An understanding of the Kingdom of God has to be central to anything that God is birthing in this hour. Wolf has put together a series of television broadcasts that will be aired in Finland and then repackaged for distribution. Check out the broadcasts and stay up to date with Wolf and his wife Mercy at While We Slept.
