Searching…
Lately I’ve been stirred by the implications of where the church is going in the earth. You can read a little more of my cryptic statements about that subject here and here. However, it has lead me to do some pretty serious searching for others out there who are like us. The last three days I’ve spent on the internet searching for others who are doing what we’re doing in Iowa. I don’t want to recruit. I don’t want to be recruited. I just want to find other friends who are believing the same things I am.
So my internet search engines are filled with queries containing the following phrases:
House church
Home church
Simple church
House church network
Cedar Rapids
Iowa City
Waterloo
Cedar Falls
Iowa
To my chagrin and frustration, they’re not out there. I know many are considering these things and that I’m not the only one the Lord is speaking to on these matters…so I post my searches, not so much to update everyone I know about what I’m doing but in hopes that there’s some other frustrated guy out there just like me, looking for other guys doing the same thing he’s doing. I want to be clear. This is not an invitation for any frustrated believer to come join a new house church. We’ve got enough stuff to figure out on our own.
But, if you’re out there in Eastern Iowa doing the same thing we’re doing…let me know.

The Long Silence
Hi
You may notice the last couple of posts have been the only ones since July. The reason is my laptop monitor is dying. When I return from Uganda and have a little extra money, I will fix it and hopefully be back to blogging.
I love all of you guys.
Off to Uganda!

Prayer Update for the Ugandan Trip
Dear Friends and Family
It’s Friday morning and we’re a couple hours out from heading towards Uganda. I wanted to take a minute to thank everyone for their faithfulness in prayer and giving. This trip would not be possible without all of you. I’m facing this trip with some measure of fear and excitement all mixed together at the same time. I know the Lord will meet us as we go and it will be exciting to see the ways in which it will happen.
For those of you who asked, I want to give a brief itinerary for the purpose of prayer.
Friday August 24th-Travel to Amsterdam
Saturday August 25th-From Amsterdam to Entebbe, Uganda
Sunday August 26th-Preaching Solo in Ugandan churches around Entebbe
Monday Through Wednesday, August 27-29th-Pastors Conference and Crusade in the bush of Uganda
Thursday August 30th- ???
Friday August 31st-Launching 24 Hours of Prayer for the nation of Uganda
Saturday September 1st- Ugandan Wedding…etc
Sunday September 2nd- Preaching again in Ugandan Churches, Travel back to US
Here are a couple of prayer requests for the trip:
Please pray that the crusade is effective and many people come to Jesus. We’re holding the crusade in an area known for witchcraft and there has been much flooding in the part of Uganda as well. Also, pray that the pastors who come to the conference are refreshed by the Word of God and strengthened to lead their people.
Pray for our team’s unity. Also pray that we do more than just get a long, but spur one another forward in the things of God during our trip.
Pray for my wife and my daughter as they stay in KC with family and friends. Leaving them has been the hardest part about going on the trip so far.
As always, pray for safe travel and health during the trip, especially one so exhausting.
Finally, please pray God gives me the right messages for the trip. I’ve only had time to get about 5 ready beforehand, but I know we will need many more.
Thank you so much to all of you for praying. You’re prayers are worth more than gold to me in this season. I will hopefully get Christy to write an update if we are able to communicate from Africa. I love you all.
