Introducing Little K…

So, I’ve been promising pictures of our baby for a while, but I finally was able to get them uploaded.  Some techie I am, huh?  Anyways, here are pictures of the newest messenger that God is raising up in our family.  Supposedly he or she looks like me.  Maybe when we get our digital camera working, I’ll post a picture of me covering my face just like the baby in the first picture.

Notes On The Prayer Meeting

I’m a little late (about a week) but I just thought I would report a little bit on the things the Lord seems to be highlighting as our prayer meeting gathers and prays.  Last week there were two interesting points, I’ll try and be a little timely for tonight’s prayer meeting.

  • President Bush-We all sensed the President needed serious prayer, but I don’t think any of us would have imagined spending 45 minutes in serious, concentrated prayer for the leader of our nation.  To those who have ears to hear, remember to pray for our President.  There’s a great need for him to strengthen himself in God in this hour, no matter what Fox News or CNN have to say.  For more, read Lou Engle’s article here.
  • Luke 16:16 Company-Over the past several weeks the Lord has continually spoken to us about the need for God to raise up a company of people who press into the Kingdom forcefully.  I believe spefically this relates to the city of Cedar Rapids.  God is looking for a company of people in the city to arise who will press into the Kingdom with force.  But at this moment we must pray for such a company.  There is a need to birth it in prayer.

I want to encourage everyone, God is moving.  This is the time to pray and keep praying.  As my friend Duane (and the Lord of Heaven and Earth) says, “In the time of rain, ask for more rain.”

Transition…

So in the midst of having a baby, trying to find a house, and mulling over planting a house church (again), the Lord decided to add this new thing to the mix.  I got a new job.

Yeah, so most of those who read probably know, but I interviewed for a job last week.  The interview went great but at the end I asked for more money or a guarantee that I would still be able to work the same number of Saturdays as I do now.  On Monday the manager who interviewed me offered me the position with a little more money and some small assurance that I will work Saturdays.  Tuesday morning I accepted the position.

So now things are changing again.  It seems that though we serve a God who is the same yesterday, today, and forever, He remains committed to making sure that everything else in our lives is always changing.  I think He’s fairly convinced that comfort is our adversary.

So…a new house somewhere in the future…maybe a new fellowship…definitely a new baby and now a new job at a different branch in a different department.  It’s all a little overwhelming…but God is good.
